In a recent development, the Bishalgarh police in Tripura have arrested three notorious women traffickers. The individuals arrested were Arabul Rahman, Yiddish Mia, and Maman Mia, all of whom hailed from Bishalgarh Raghunathpur.
The gang was reportedly involved in the attempted smuggling of a Ugandan woman to Bangladesh on May 4th. The woman was brought from the Agartala railway station and detained by the gang in Bishalgarh. Fortunately, the woman managed to escape from their clutches and sought refuge at the Bishalgarh police station. However, her bag containing her passport, mobile, and other documents remained in the custody of the smugglers.
Subsequently, the Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station filed a case against the woman under the Passport Act, and she is currently in jail. The Investigating Officer of the case, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rahul Das, initiated an investigation, which led to the identification and arrest of the culprits.
During the arrest, the police recovered the Ugandan woman’s passport bag and seized the Maruti car that was used to transport the victim from Agartala to Bishalgarh. Additional Superintendent of Police Manabendra Chowdhury of Sepahijala district revealed that a trafficking gang was active in the area and further investigation is underway to bring all the perpetrators to justice.
SDPO Rahul Das emphasized that the gang was well-organized and involved with brokers in Bangladesh. Legal action will be taken against all involved in the trafficking case, as well as their accomplices.
The arrest of the three traffickers is expected to serve as a warning to other trafficking gangs operating in the region. The Bishalgarh police have called on the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities. The police have assured the public that they will continue their efforts to combat trafficking and bring perpetrators to justice.
