An awareness and settlement camp lead by PNB on unclaimed financial assets will be held in Unakoti on December 19 under the “Your Money, Your Right” campaign, helping citizens trace and claim bank deposits, insurance, shares, and mutual funds.
An extensive awareness campaign cum settlement camp focusing on unclaimed financial assets in the financial sector will be organised in Unakoti district on December 19. Punjab National Bank (PNB), the lead bank for the district, announced that the programme will be held at the PRTI Conference Hall, Kumarghat, starting from 11:30 am onwards.
The camp is being organised as part of a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The three-month awareness drive, running from October to December 2025, is titled “Your Money, Your Right” and aims to educate citizens about unclaimed assets and the procedures to reclaim them. The campaign is being implemented in coordination with key financial regulators, including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
According to the organisers, member banks of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Tripura, insurance companies under the State Level Insurance Committee, institutions associated with SEBI and the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), and a large number of customers are expected to participate in the event.
Unclaimed financial assets such as dormant bank deposits, unpaid insurance policy claims, unclaimed dividends, shares, mutual fund proceeds, and pension funds often remain untouched for years. In many cases, this happens due to lack of awareness, outdated contact details, incomplete documentation, or the absence of nominee information. The awareness camp seeks to address these challenges by offering citizens direct access to information and assistance under one roof.
During the programme, experts from participating institutions will provide on-the-spot guidance on how individuals can search for their unclaimed assets through official portals, update personal and nominee details, and complete the required claim procedures. Digital tools will be demonstrated live, and step-by-step explanations will be given to simplify what is often perceived as a complex process.
The Government of India has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every rupee saved or invested by citizens can be rightfully claimed by them or by their legal heirs and nominees. The campaign also aims to strengthen financial inclusion by encouraging people to maintain updated records and remain informed about their financial rights.
