One more medical college now, this time in Ambassa: CM

While there are two medical colleges in the state , one more medical college would soon be set up in Tripura—this time it would come up at Ambassa in Dhalai district, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. Apart from that MBBS seats in Agartala Government Medical College had increased from 100 to 125 last year.

While speaking at a function in Amarpur Dr Saha said, site for the proposed medical college had also been earmarked.

Besides, the Chief Minister announced that by this year itself all the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) would be converted into Health and Wellness Centres (HCWs) by 2022.

“At present there are 1005 health sub-centres and 115 PHCs in the state”, Dr Saha said after inaugurating the new building of Nutanbazar Community Health Centre.

The Chief Minister also dwelt on the achievements of the state government and said that not only  infant mortality rate had come down to 21 per cent from 27 per cent in 2015 , there were also remarkable development in healthcare infrastructures . He had ready reference at hand Onco-surgery to neuro surgery or for that matter cardio vascular surgery that had been conducted in the state.

He called upon the people of the state to keep faith on the doctors, nurses and other medical stuff and to copperate with them as they always wanted to extend their best services.

“All need to join hands to keep the healthcare facilities clean and all must maintain hygiene”, the Chief Minister who himself is an eminent maxillofacial surgeon said.

In the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister felicitated four students- Ankita Debnath, Gopa Rani Tripura, Swarnadip Saha and Karna Acharjee along with head master Sumangal Chakma of Nutanbazar Higher Secondary School for their special contribution in Covid vaccination drive. The Chief Minister also participated in a tree plantation drive.

 The Chief Minister also took part in different programmes in Amarpur sub-division today. At first, the Chief Minister joined an Annaprashan ceremony held at an Anganwadi Centre nearby Sadar office of TSR 5th Battalion in West Duluma, Amarpur.

 He had also handed over assistance to the beneficiaries and had inaugurated vegetable garden. The Chief Minister handed over financial assistance of Rs 2000 cash under Antyodaya Shradhanjali Yojana to Nalbanti Reang who has recently lost her husband.

The Chief Minister also handed over a wheelchair to a Divyangjan, Jacob Jamatia and a tri-cycle to another Divyangjan, Jarmahari Jamatia.

The Chief Minister handed over National Flags to students of different schools as a part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. He had also handed over National Flags to the official of TSR 5th Battalion and Amarpur SDM Asit Kumar Das.

 While speaking to the media, the Chief Minister praised the infrastructure of the Anganwadi Centre located nearby Sadar office of TSR 5th Battalion.

He said, the students are being taught here with great care. The Centre had even bagged few awards, hence the visit. The Chief Minister inaugurated a vegetable garden at the premises of the Anganwadi Centre. He also got acquainted that the vegetables grown in the garden will be used in the mid-day meals for the children of the Anganwadi Centre. He said, the Anganwadi Centre of West Duluma is new and ideal.

Other dignitaries present along with the Chief Minister during Amarpur visit were MLA Ranjit Das, Director of Social Welfare & Social Education department department Sidharth Shiv Jaiswal, Gomati District Magistrate Raval Hemendra Kumar, Gomati Police Superintendent Saswata Kumar and officials of different departments.
