Initiative has been taken to uphold the historical, religious and eco-tourism spots of the state in the global forum. For this purpose, apart from use of social media, other modern systems have also been adopted. A proposal worth Rs. 50 lakh has been sent to the central government for the IT related infrastructural upgradation of tourism department, stated the state tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy after launching the refurbished online booking portal of tourism department from Gitanjali Guest House. The portal has been developed by I-logitron Technology Private Limited. The portal will have information on tourist lodges, Pantha Niwas, services, availability of rooms, etc.

Speaking on the occasion the tourism minister said, online booking system was operational during the time of the previous government. But with the changing time updation of the same was necessary, that is how this re-furbished portal has come into the picture. Referring to the natural beauty of Tripura, he said, as per the Archaeological Survey of India’s report, out of the 10 historical sculptural creations of the Northeast eight are found in Tripura. Considering this tourism has immense prospects here.

The tourism minister said, during the last two year due to Corona tourism sector has been affected severely. Now the government is going forward with new vigor for this sector. He said, log huts have been built in eco-parks of the state; 23 log huts are also being built at Narkel Kunja. Helicopter service has been introduced to facilitate commutation to that place. Besides, development works of Tripureswari Temple are expected to be completed within a year.  Plan is there to convert the Pushpabanta Palace to one of the magnificent museums of the country. For this purpose the central government has sanctioned Rs. 40 crore. He hoped that Tripura, sooner, than later, will curve a niche for itself as a tourist-friendly state.

The programme was also attended by the manager director of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) Tarit Kanti Chakma, joint director of IT department Suprakash Jamatia, joint director of tourism department Dilip Debbarma and assistance director Mrinal Kanti Das.
