Fugitive nabbed after 15 years
In a joint operation Kalyanpur police and Agartala East PS police nabbed one fugitive 15 years after the crime from Jugendra Nagar area in Agartala on early Monday.
The fugitive- Sentu Debnath (39) is a decorator by profession and originally from West Ghilatali village under Kalyanpur police station.
He moved to Maheshkhala area of Agartala with his wife for livelihood 15 years ago.
It is alleged that his wife ended her life after being physically abused by him. Her family members had filed a complaint with police against Sentu Debnath.
Sentu Debnath, however, managed to escape and police could not find any trace of him for about 15 years since then.
Meanwhile, acting on a specific input, Kalyanpur police in assistance with Agartala East PS police arrested Sentu Debnath from Bidyasagar Pally area in Jugendra Nagar.
Fire incident: Narrow escape for students
Chaos prevailed among the students of Kalyanpur Higher Secondary school when fire caught inside the Mid-day-meal room of the school on Monday.
Luckily, the students and other staff had a narrow escape.
According to the students, they noticed the fire caught in a ceiling fan.
Kalyanpur fire department was informed immediately after the fire broke out.
However, the fire was brought under control with the intervention of teachers and other staff of the school before fire tenders reached the spot.
Journalist attack: Police nab two
Teliamura police nabbed two accused and sent them to Khowai court on Monday for assaulting journalists while they were performing their professional duties.
Reportedly, on Sunday evening at Teliamura Ampi Chaumuhani there was a quarrel between the two groups over some issue. Lots of people gathered at the scene. Journalist When Rahul Pal went to collect news, some miscreants attacked him and snatched his gold chain, finger ring etc. After hearing the news of the incident, all journalists of the sub-division rushed to the spot and demanded the arrest of the culprits.
It is also alleged that Ranjan Biswas, the second officer on duty, misbehaved with the journalists while they were at the police station. However, the OC of the police station cooperated with the journalists in this case. A case was filed at the police station on behalf of the journalist. The accused were detained and later sent to the court on Monday.
