State government decided to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) in the primary level from the next year, said Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath while addressing the programme organized on the occasion of 61st Teachers; Day in Agartala.
The Education Minister admitted that introduction and then implementation of the NEP effectively would be a herculean task in view of the present educational system of our state.
We can only effectively and meaningfully implement the NEP in Tripura if and when the teachers will offer their services more competently and more dedicatedly, said Nath as he spoke on the occasion at the state-level programme in Rabindra Hall of Maharaja Bir Bikram College as the chief guest.
He pointed out thyat Tripura made good progress in the PGI index. Besides, 14 students from IIIT that started functioning in the state in 2019 already got placements in various companies of the country.
Chief Secretary Dr. J.K. Sinha, chairman of Tripura State Higher Education Council Dr. Arunoday Saha, secretary of Education department Saradindu Chowdhury, director of Higher Education N.C. Sharma and director of elementary education Chandni Chandran were present in the programme.
Various schools, other educational institutions and teachers were awarded in various categories.
The recipients included Mouli Bhusan Bhattacharjee (Pandit Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar Samman), Matilal Kalai (Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Samman), Dr. Milan Rani Jamatia (Maharani Tulsibati Samman), Dr. Kalyan Chandra Dighal (Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Samman) and Sanjoy Kumar Paul (Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Samman).
The state government honoured total 41 school and college teachers in the state-level teacher’s Day programme.
In the meantime, on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday conferred National Awards to 45 distinguished teachers from across the country including Santosh Nath from Tripura. Nath is a Science Teacher from South Mirzapur High School in Belonia of South Tripura district.
The award was conferred on him by the President in a programme held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
He is one among the seven teachers to receive this award this year. According to a short video released by Prasar Bharati (PBNS), scientific inventions of Nath had enhanced the enrollment of the school.
He is extensively working on ICT models, 3D activity based learning and other scientific innovations for encouraging youngsters towards science.
