National Cadet Corps (NCC) would be introduced as an elective subject in the state-run colleges, said Education Minister Ratanlal Nath after his meeting with NCC DG Lt. Gen Gurobipal Singh at civil secretariat on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference here, Nath announced the decision of including the subject in all Government Degree Colleges, to strengthen the NCC chapter in the state. The subject will be included from next academic session, he added.

He also announced that the NCC Headquarters soon get a permanent construction as the condition of the old building is very poor and deteriorated.

“As the condition of the old building of NCC unit is very poor and deteriorated, the government has allotted Rs 10 crore for the construction of NCC Headquarters. We are thinking about shifting the NCC unit to a temporary location, besides, we are searching for a permanent location where the construction of the new headquarters could be done,” Nath said.

He said, the new construction would include- Residence, office room, staff quarters, and training centres.
