Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma who also holds the Finance portfolio tabled the tax -free Deficit budget for the year 2022-23 in the state assembly on Thursday- the first day of the sitting.
The budget was pegged at Rs 26,822.67 crore with an 18.34 percent increase from that of the last year. The deficit was settled at Rs569.52 crore.
According to the summary information of the Budget, receipts in Revenue Account is increased and pegged at Rs 21047.15 crore in 2022-23 compared to Rs 18,456.09 crore in 2021-22. As a result, deficit in the Revenue account has been reduced to Rs 559.74 crore in 2022-23 in comparison with Rs.1617.15 crore. The increase in the Revenue receipts contributed in taming down the estimated Budget deficit from Rs 773.43 crore in 2022-23 to Rs 569.52 crore in the 2022-23 FY.
