The state Youth Affairs and Sports minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday laid foundation stone for construction of synthetic turf football field at BKI ground in Belonia and said that international standard infrastructures are required for the development of the sports talents.
Chowdhury said that the present state government has given utmost importance to the development of sports infrastructure and also eyeing to explore more talents from then state in sports. The football field will be built at the cost of Rs. 5 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that work has already been started to build synthetic turf football fields in Agartala, Udaipur, Khowai and Jampuijala as part of the development of sports infrastructure in the state.
Sports equipment are being provided in 206 coaching centers in the state aiming to hunt for national level sports talents from the interior parts of the state, he said.
“150 junior sports teachers shall be recruited soon,” Chowdhury said, adding that Rs. 20 crore has been earmarked in the state’s budget for construction of play grounds across the state. The Sports minister also distributed sports materials among 24 coaching centers in the south district in a function at Rabindra Shatavarsha Muktamancha on Wednesday.
MLA Arun Chandra Bhowmik, Sports director Subikash Debbarma among others were present in the function. The sports minister on Wednesday also inaugurated the annual sports event at Belonia Hrishyamukh Joykatpur school.
