Nakamura halts Gukesh’s surge with crucial win –

Must Read

At the Norway Chess 2025, Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi got back to winning ways in Round 8 as he defeated American Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana in an intense time scramble last night. Arjun, who was playing with White pieces, managed a critical win by turning a borderline lost position into a winning one.

On the other hand, World Champion D Gukesh suffered a loss against American Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura in a Round 8 clash. Nakamura successfully managed to take revenge for his Round 3 loss with a dominant victory in the classical game. He also broke the classical winning streak of Gukesh.

Meanwhile, World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen also faced a stunning loss against Chinese Grandmaster Wei Yi. Carlsen blundered a piece in the Armageddon game, and it was all Wei Yi needed to claim the win.

Moreover, in the women’s event, Indian Grandmaster Vaishali Rameshbabu secured an important Armageddon win over Reigning World Champion and Chinese Grandmaster Ju Wenjun for the first time.
