Ruling BJP launched its poll campaign in full swing with party’s national president Jagat Prakash Nadda holding two massive rallies , followed by several other rallies attended by Union Minister Smriti Irani, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, film star Mithun Chakrabarty, West Bengal leader Suvendu Adhikari, Dilip Ghosh et al on Friday.
BJP sources said the campaign will get further fillip with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing poll rallies soon. While Shah is expected to arrive here on twice February 6 and 12, Prime Minister is likely to address rallies on February 11.
On Friday Nadda came down heavily on the Opposition alliance of the CPM and Congress saying that they were facing existential crisis.
Nadda who gave details of the development initiatives taken by the BJP government in Tripura said, the state which had once been famous for militancy and strikes was now known in the entire country for development and growth under the leadership of former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and incumbent Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
“People are now filled with aspirations”, he said and called upon the people to vote for the BJP to continue with the development under the double engine government.
Smriti Irani who attended two poll rallies in the state on Froday like her national president heavily criticised the ‘evil’ alliance of the CPM and Congress.
Irani who spoke mostly in Bengali did not miss the chance to mention that Congress had forgotten the murders and brutalities it was subjected to by the CPM. She asked the Congress supporters and workers to think over their leaders’ decision and give a befitting reply in the ensuing elections.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who joined the poll campaign in Suryamaninagar, Banamalipur and Krishnapur constituencies opined that the electors had already decided in favour of double-engine government and to bring back the BJP in the state.
Sharma also touched upon the development works done by the ruling BJP in Tripura.
Be it farmers’ welfare, connectivity development, increase in social allowance or hike in employees’ salary, the double-engine government has done tremendous works; the people’s support is with the BJP, he said at Suryamaninagar constituency.
Later, Sharma also took to his social media platforms in favour of Banamalipur BJP candidate and party state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and wrote :
“Overwhelmed by the huge turnout of people at the election rally addressed by me in Banamalipur constituency, Tripura. I urged voters to elect BJP Tripura candidate & State BJP chief Shri Rajib Bhattacharjee for ensuring continuity in the current growth trajectory”.
In other rallies across the state film star Mithun Chakrabarty, BJP leaders Suvendu Adhikari and Dilip Ghosh also appealed the voters to elect the BJP for continuance of the development works. They also slammed the Congress-CPM ‘unholy’ alliance and also referred to the West Bengal experience where the similar alliance suffered miserably.
