The state government has embarked upon an ambitious and far reaching project for the Information Technology sector with setting up modern Data centre in collaboration with the giants in the regime- CSC and NIXI SPV.
The NIXI-CSC Data Services Limited will come up with an investment of up to Rs. 150 crore over a period of 7 years for this ambitious project.
Once the latest Data Centre becomes operational a huge flow of investment in the IT sector in Tripura is expected as the Data Centre nowadays plays the key role in the fast-moving IT industries all over the world.
Tripura Chief Secretary Kumar Alok in a tweet has said the project would be of around Rs 150 crore. A Memorandum of Understanding has already been signed with between the IT department IT department and CSC and NIXI SPV on Tuesday.
“Today CSC and NIXI SPV has signed Agreement with IT department to set up a data centre at Agartala” the Chief secretary said.
Once the investment is put in place and the Data Centre comes up it will not only help grow the IT sector but also generate huge employment opportunities in the state and contribute greatly in the state’s economy, as well as act an harbinger of entry of several other related industries, officials pointed out.
Anindya Kumar Bhattacharya, Director, IT, Govt. of Tripura and Anil Jain, CEO, NIXI-CSC Data Services Limited signed the agreement.
The Council of Minister approved the investment proposal of CSC SPV to set up the data centre in Agartala in partnership with NIXI in December last year.
Earlier, the Tripura government also launched ‘Tripura Data Center Policy-2021’ to encourage the IT and ITES industry in the state.
Puneet Agarwal, IAS, Principal Secretary, Govt. of Tripura; C. K. Dhar, DDG & SIO, NIC, Tripura State Unit; Bidyut Datta, Additional Director, IT, Govt. of Tripura and other officials were present in the MoU signing programme.
