Largest Arms Haul in Manipur: Joint Security Operation Recovers 328 Firearms, Thousands of Rounds of Ammunition
In one of the largest arms recoveries in recent months, joint teams of the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Army, and Assam Rifles carried out a series of coordinated search operations in the intervening night of June 13 and 14, recovering a staggering cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and warlike stores from multiple locations across five valley districts in Manipur.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the stockpiling of weapons in peripheral areas of the valley, the security forces launched simultaneous raids at strategic hideouts. The meticulous, intelligence-driven operations were conducted in the outskirts of the five valley districts, which have witnessed a volatile law and order situation over the past year.

Senior officials from Manipur Police have described the operation as a “significant breakthrough” in the ongoing effort to rid the state of illegal arms and restore peace. The raids, carried out with precision and coordination among multiple agencies, are being seen as part of a larger counter-insurgency and counter-violence strategy being implemented across the troubled regions of the state.
“These recoveries are a major step forward in our commitment to restore normalcy and ensure public safety,” said a senior police officer. “The size and scale of the cache show the kind of threats we continue to face, but it also highlights our resolve to meet those threats head-on.”
Appeal to the Public:
Manipur Police have issued a renewed appeal to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly those involving illegal arms or explosives. Citizens are encouraged to contact the nearest police station or the Central Control Room with any relevant information.
“Community participation is vital to sustaining peace,” the official added. “We urge all citizens to support the ongoing efforts by cooperating with the security forces and helping us identify any remaining pockets where weapons might be hidden.”

Continued Vigilance:
Authorities have confirmed that the recovered arms and ammunition are being thoroughly examined for forensic evidence and possible links to recent incidents of violence. Meanwhile, surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations will continue in the coming weeks, with further search operations anticipated.
Senior police officials remain in active coordination with all security stakeholders to sustain momentum in the drive to disarm illegal elements and prevent further destabilization.
This significant seizure comes amid ongoing security challenges in Manipur, which has been grappling with communal unrest, insurgency-linked activities, and the proliferation of arms in civilian zones. The success of this joint operation is expected to bolster the morale of security personnel and strengthen the state’s efforts to return to normalcy.
