The Jampuijala Sub-Divisional Administration organized a one-day orientation-cum-training programme on Monday at Madhya Ghaniyamara (Touyakherma). The programme featured a comprehensive disaster management mock drill aimed at improving coordination among rescue agencies, government departments, volunteers, and local communities during natural disasters.
The training was conducted with the objective of ensuring swift, coordinated, and effective rescue and relief operations during emergencies such as floods, waterlogging, and other natural calamities. Officials highlighted that regular orientation and practical exercises are essential for preparing personnel to handle real-life disaster situations efficiently and minimize the impact on affected communities.
As part of the programme, a realistic rescue demonstration was carried out in a village pond at Madhya Ghaniyamara. Rescue personnel showcased various emergency response techniques, including the safe evacuation of people trapped in floodwaters, providing immediate first aid to victims, and coordinating rescue efforts under simulated disaster conditions. The practical exercise offered participants hands-on experience in managing emergency situations while maintaining effective communication among different response teams.
Speaking during the programme, trainers stressed that continuous mock drills and orientation sessions significantly enhance the skills and operational efficiency of government officials, volunteers, and rescue personnel. Such preparedness ensures that rescue teams can respond quickly, reduce response time, and save more lives during actual emergencies.
The orientation programme witnessed the presence of several key officials and disaster management experts, including Jampuijala SDM Amitabh Chakma, District Disaster Coordinator (DDCM) Sudip Debbarma, NDRF Inspector Nagaraj Singh, and TSR Naik Subedar Mohammad Abdul Hakim. Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Tripura State Rifles (TSR), Civil Volunteers, representatives from various government departments, and local residents also actively participated in the training session.
Organizers emphasized that disaster management is a collective responsibility that requires active cooperation between the administration, rescue agencies, volunteers, and local communities. Regular training and awareness programmes not only improve technical rescue skills but also help build confidence among participants to respond effectively during emergencies.
