In a formal ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu assumed the position of the 20th Governor of Tripura, succeeding Satyadeo Narain Arya. The oath of office was administered by Tripura High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh.
Nallu, who was previously associated with the BJP in Telangana, assumed his new role in the presence of Tripura’s Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, several ministers, senior civil and security officials, and other dignitaries.
He stated, “It is my responsibility to make all-out efforts for the development of the state and the welfare of the people of Tripura. I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve the people of Tripura and contribute to the state’s progress.”
The three-time MLA, Reddy Nallu, had previously represented the Malakpet constituency in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly during the 1983, 1985, and 1999 elections. Additionally, he served as the floor leader of the BJP in the combined Andhra Pradesh Assembly.
Throughout his political career, the septuagenarian leader assumed various significant roles, including the presidency of the BJP in the combined state of Andhra Pradesh from 2003 to 2007 and the position of national secretary of the saffron party in 2014. More recently, he was appointed as a member of the BJP’s national executive committee.
Notably, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu is the second BJP leader from Telangana to serve as a governor, with Bandaru Dattatreya currently holding the post in Haryana. His swearing-in marks the beginning of a new chapter in the governance of Tripura under his leadership.
