Indian MPs from an all-party delegation visited Bahrain’s 200-year-old Shreenathji Temple and Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, reaffirming India’s stance against terrorism and showcasing its pluralist ethos.

A delegation of Indian Members of Parliament (MPs) from multiple political parties visited Bahrain as part of a broader mission to reinforce India’s unified stand against terrorism and showcase its deeply rooted values of pluralism and religious harmony. The visit included a pilgrimage to two of Bahrain’s most historic places of worship — the 200-year-old Shreenathji Temple and the Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara — both emblematic of India’s cultural and religious legacy abroad.

The delegation, led by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda, included Rekha Sharma, Phangnon Konyak, Nishikant Dubey, and India’s former Foreign Secretary and current Ambassador-at-Large, Harsh Vardhan Shringla. Another delegation member, Satnam Singh Sandhu, paid his respects at the historic gurdwara.

The visit to the Shreenathji Temple in Manama holds particular historical significance. Built in 1817 by the Thattai Bhatia Hindu community who migrated from Sindh prior to India’s partition, the temple is a symbol of enduring Indian cultural presence in the Gulf region. The temple gained global attention in 2019 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the site and announced a $4.2 million renovation project aimed at preserving its heritage for future generations.

A message from the official social media handle ‘India in Bahrain’ acknowledged the visit: “Members of All-Party Delegation @PandaJay @sharmarekha @SPhangnon @nishikant_dubey @harshvshringla visited the 200-year-old ‘Shreenathji Temple’.”

Parallel to these spiritual visits, the delegation engaged with the vibrant Indian diaspora in Bahrain. During these interactions, they reiterated India’s resolute opposition to terrorism in all forms and praised the diaspora’s contributions to strengthening bilateral ties between India and Bahrain.

Baijayant Jay Panda shared his reflections on social media platform X (formerly Twitter): “Our Indian diaspora has succeeded globally, & this makes us all very proud. Today, along with my esteemed colleagues from the all-party delegation, we engaged with the Indian community in Bahrain & conveyed India’s unified & unwavering stance against terrorism. #OperationSindoor.”

The Indian Embassy in Bahrain also released a statement highlighting the diplomatic outreach: “The All-Party Delegation led by @PandaJay interacted with prominent personalities in #Bahrain. The delegation praised their contribution to stronger bilateral ties. Reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism.”

This Bahrain leg marks the beginning of a larger multi-nation tour that includes visits to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Algeria. The mission aims not only to enhance diplomatic relationships but also to symbolize India’s firm resolve in combating cross-border terrorism while promoting a message of religious inclusivity and unity.

As India continues to position itself as a global voice against extremism and a beacon of pluralism, such visits highlight the critical role of diplomacy rooted in culture, dialogue, and shared values.
