Improvement of socio-economic condition of the farmers has been given utmost importance. For this purpose, the benefits of different central and state government schemes are being provided to the farmers of remote areas, enunciated Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Pranajit Singha Roy in an interaction programme with beneficiaries of different schemes in Amarpur today.

He said, about 2 lakh 45 thousand farmers in the state have been brought under PMKISAN scheme so far. Earlier the farmers had to go to the Mahajans for collecting money. Now the farmers are getting money into their own bank accounts. He said, 5 thousand 582 MT paddy has been procured from farmers of Amarpur sub-division at MSP. Emphasis has been given on scientific way of farming for the development of agriculture. Machines are being given to the farmers on subsidy for this purpose.

Former Chief Minister and MLA Biplab Kumar Deb in the programme said, the state government is working to provide the facilities of different central and state government such as PMKISAN, PMAY, Jal Jeevan Mission etc. till the last person of the state. The ultimate goal of the state government is upliftment of the poor sections of the society. He said, the state government is prioritizing welfare of the tribals in the state. Project worth 1,300 crore rupees has been taken up for overall development of the tribals with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank. The long-standing Bru refugee issue in the state has been solved with the sincere efforts of the central and the state government.

Deb said, 7 thousand 176 farmers of Amarpur sub-division have been brought under PMKISAN scheme. They are getting 6 thousand rupees every year into their bank accounts.  Earlier, paddy used to be procured at 10-12 rupees per kg from the farmers. The state government is presently procuring paddy from the farmers at 19.40 rupees per kg benefiting the farmers. He said, it was possible to fight against Covid-19 pandemic situation with the far-sightedness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Poor families all over the country were provided with 5 kgs of rice free of cost. About 25 lakh people of the state benefited through this. MLA Ranjit Das also spoke on the occasion. Welcome speech was delivered by Gomati District Magistrate Raval Hemendra Kumar. He elaborated on implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, PMKISAN and PMAY in the district. Chairman of Amarpur Panchayat Samiti Monty Debnath, Chairperson of Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Bikas Saha, Member of Gomati Zilla Parishad Phani Bhushan Chakraborty, Director In-charge of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare department Navojit Chakma were present during the programme. The programme was presided over by Chairman of Amarpur Block Advisory Committee Sumanta Reang.
