India Meteorological Department, IMD has said that heat wave conditions are likely to continue over Eastern part of the country till Sunday and over south Peninsular India till Monday and abate thereafter.

Yesterday, Heat Wave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal and in isolated parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Telangana, Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema also witnessed Heatwave conditions. Yesterday, highest maximum temperature of 46.2 degree celcius was reported at Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh.

IMD said, heavy to very heavy rainfall spell accompanied with thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in Northeastern part of the country on Sunday and Monday. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh from today till Sunday. Light rainfall is expected in Western Rajasthan today. Haryana-Chandigarh and Punjab is likely to witness light rainfall tomorrow.

Strong surface winds 30 to 40 kilometres per hour is likely to prevail over Uttar Pradesh, south Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi today and tomorrow. Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal expected to witness light rainfall in the next three days.
