The Rural Development courses of IGNOU in Master’s and Post Graduate Level are playing a crucial role in Rural Development claimed Dr. Arobindo Mahato, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Agartala.
Dr. Mahato said, the Master of Arts (Rural Development) has been designed to include diverse educational content aimed towards practical skill enhancement of the students.
“An important component of this programme is the dissertation based on empirical research in rural areas. This programme not only caters to the skilled manpower requirement of the society but is also helpful for the personnel working in various government departments, NGO’s, Cooperatives, banks and other institutes engaged in rural transformation”.
“The course is highly beneficial for the fresh graduates who want to make a career in the field of rural development. In Tripura many Rural Development oriented scheme of TRLM, LICA, NRHM, SCATFARM, Jall-Jiran mission, MGNARGA Social Audit are in shoulder of IGNOU, MA ( Rural Development) pass out students”, he said adding that they also involve in rural development work through Corporate Social Responsibility intervention of various Public and Private sector Company such as Ed India, ONGC GAIL etc.
Dr Mahato said, the Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development (PGDRD) provides a comprehensive knowledge of the socio-economic factors affecting the transformation of rural society. In context to Tripura both the courses being highly skill oriented has the potential to full fill skilled manpower requirement of the State in various government departments, rural banks and NGO’s engaged in various rural transformation activities. Any graduate is eligible for admission in the MA (Rural Development) and PG diploma (Rural development). IGNOU has opened admission for its July 2022 session in all programme up to October 20 next.
