Heavy rains, thunderstorm to lash out at state for 3 days

For the next three days Tripura will witness heavy showers and thunderstorm.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in a report said, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning will lash out at all eight districts from June 15 to 18.

According to the report an East-west trough runs from northwest Uttar Pradesh to Assam across Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim at mean sea level. Moisture incursion is very likely to continue due to strong lower level Southerly/ Southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast India during 15-18 June 2022.

Under its influence, widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms/lightning/ heavy to very heavy with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely to continue over northeastern states including Tripura till June 18 next.

As per the IMD report, heavy rains may cause water logging in low lying areas, there are possibilities of damage to vulnerable structures and lightning may strike people and cattle at open places.

The IMD asked the people to avoid going to areas that face water logging problems often and staying in vulnerable structures.
