A head-on collision between a passenger bus and a Maxx vehicle on the national highway at Hataikotor (Barmura) resulted in at least twelve injuries, including children and women.
The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m., with all the injured passengers travelling in the Maxx vehicle.
Fire Service personnel promptly responded to the scene, providing assistance and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.
Six individuals were taken to GBP hospitals, while another six were transferred to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. Two of the latter group, in serious condition, were further referred to GBP Hospital.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed grief over the incident on social media and issued instructions to health officials for the treatment of the injured. He also appealed to drivers to remain vigilant while driving.
Leader of Opposition Animesh Debbarma, who happened to be passing through the accident spot, assisted the injured in reaching the hospital.
