Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the government will not ink any deal at the cost of the interest of farmers of the country. Mr. Chouhan was addressing the state-level function at Patna on the occasion of the DBT transfer of financial assistance under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.
The Union Minister said that for the Modi government, the interest of farmers is the topmost priority and it will not be compromised under any condition.
Mr Chouhan said the NDA government is committed to protecting farmers against the distress sale of their produce, so the MIS scheme has been started. He said it will provide logistics support and transport facilities to farmers so they can access profitable markets to sell their produce.
He said it will also provide a protection cover for perishable items produced by farmers.
The Union Minister said to increase productivity, the Centre is providing all sorts of help like affordable loans, affordable fertiliser, good quality seeds and pesticides.
He said the government is providing a huge subsidy of 1.75 lakh crore rupees to control rising prices of urea, DAP and NKP fertilisers.
He also said that an institutional loan of 25 lakh crore rupees is being provided to support farmers, along with a cheap interest rate Kishan Credit Card.
Mr. Chouhan praised Bihar farmers for their innovative agricultural skills and hard labour.
He said the National Makhana Board has been constituted, and it will boost foxnut production.
The Union Agriculture Minister said the government is committed to the dissemination of scientific knowledge, so scientists visit the doorsteps of farmers under Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Cooperative Minister Dr. Prem Kumar, Animal Husbandry Minister Renu Devi, State Farmers Commission Chairperson Rupnarayan Mehta and several other ministers were also present on the occasion.
