India and Nepal have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation and partnership. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, on a two-day official tour to Nepal, today held a series of high-level meetings in Kathmandu. Mr Misri called on Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel at the Office of the President and discussed matters related to the enhancement of bilateral cooperation and strengthening historic ties.
The Foreign Secretary also called on Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli at his office in Singha Durbar. Both sides reaffirm their commitment to advance the Nepal-India partnership. Mr Misri also met the Foreign Minister of Nepal, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and discussed matters of mutual interest and key bilateral issues.
In Budhanilkantha, Misri also met Nepali Congress Chairperson Sher Bahadur Deuba. Their discussions centred on further reinforcing the close and multifaceted relations between the two neighbours, built on trust, goodwill, and shared aspirations for prosperity and stability in the region.
Later in the day, Misri held delegation-level talks with his Nepali counterpart Amrit Bahadur Rai. A dinner is being hosted in his honour this evening. He arrived in Kathmandu this morning on a two-day visit at the invitation of his counterpart and will return to New Delhi tomorrow at noon. This is Vikram Misri’s second visit to Nepal since assuming office in July last year.
