PM Modi slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, citing a five-point crisis involving violence, unemployment, corruption, women’s insecurity, and denial of central schemes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public rally in Alipurduar district of West Bengal on Thursday, launched a scathing attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. He accused the state administration of dragging West Bengal into a five-pronged crisis that has severely affected the lives of its people.
“The people of West Bengal are suffering due to five major issues under the current regime,” PM Modi said. These, he claimed, include: (1) widespread violence and vandalism, (2) insecurity among women, (3) high unemployment among the youth, (4) rampant corruption in the state administration, and (5) deprivation of basic services for the common people.
Citing the recent violence in the minority-dominated Murshidabad district following protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, PM Modi alleged that the ruling party’s appeasement politics had encouraged lawlessness. He claimed that ruling party MLAs and councillors were complicit in identifying targets for vandalism, while the police acted on instructions to remain inactive.
He further criticized the TMC government for creating a situation where judicial intervention is necessary for any resolution. “In Bengal, the courts have to intervene in almost every issue. Instead of accepting their mistakes, the TMC leadership often blames the judiciary,” Modi remarked.
The Prime Minister also expressed concern over the future of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff whose jobs were recently terminated following a Supreme Court verdict. He held the TMC government responsible, accusing it of systemic corruption that led to such large-scale job insecurity.

Additionally, Modi accused the state government of denying citizens access to central welfare schemes like Ayushman Bharat and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, thereby depriving millions of free healthcare and affordable housing. “The state’s inhuman approach has prevented people from availing central benefits that could have improved their lives,” he stated.
PM Modi concluded by highlighting the TMC’s opposition to the election of the first tribal President of India, calling it a reflection of the party’s indifference toward tribal communities.
The rally served as a major political offensive by the BJP in West Bengal, emphasizing governance issues and central-state friction under Mamata Banerjee’s administration.
