The 55th Engineer’s Day programme was celebrated throughout the day in the state today through different events. The morning rally was inaugurated by Drinking Water & Sanitation Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and was organized by PWD department in association with The Institution of Engineers, Tripura branch and with the financial assistance of other engineering organizations. The morning rally commenced from Rabindra Bhawan premises and moved around RMS Chowmuhni, Post Office Chowmuhni, Kaman Chowmuni and Durgabari and ended back at Rabindra Bhawan premises. Speaking about the importance of celebrating the day, DWS Minister said, the role of engineers in the development of infrastructure of the nation and the state is undeniable. Through commemorating the birth anniversary of India’s great engineer Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya’s, engineers in the country are celebrated. The DWS Minister hoped that state’s engineers will play significant role in building a prosperous Tripura in the coming days.

     A blood donation camp was organized today at 10 am at Institute of Engineer’s building situated at Gurkhabasti. After inaugurating the blood donation camp, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder said, Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya has played an inspiring role towards India’s infrastructural development post Independence. Such events are organized to motivate the future generation towards development of the country through his role. He also said, there has not yet been an alternative for blood. The dying patients have to depend on blood donation. He urged the people of the state to come forward to donate blood. Total 21 persons have donated blood today.

   Other dignitaries present in today’s event were TIT Principal Professor (Dr.) Sekhar Dutta, Secretary of The Institution of Engineers, Tripura branch Dr. Subhadeep Bhattacharjee, Deputy Secretary of PWD department Rajib Pal, Engineer C. Debnath and Engineer Sankar Saha.
