The role of engineers is incomparable towards making life easier. There is touch of technology in every sector of the society at present, enunciated Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha after inaugurating the 55th Engineers’ Day programme at Pragya Bhawan today. He said, development of any nation or any state is unimaginable without engineers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making efforts to build the nation as one of the best. The engineers are tirelessly working to build a developed nation.

The Chief Minister also said, our state is abundant with natural resources such as rubber, bamboo and tea etc. The engineers must utilise their skills and the natural resources towards overall development of the state. Earlier, a single Chief Engineer had to supervise different works in the state administration. However, at present, there are Chief Engineers in engineering section of different departments for convenience at work. As a result, the pace of work has also increased. The Chief Minister urged to introduce work ethics of great Indian engineer Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya as inspiration to the students.

Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha said, the engineers have made the human civilisation colourful. Life has been made easier because of the engineers. They have made commendable contributions in each sectors starting from connectivity, electricity, health etc. Secretary of PWD department Kiran Gitte said, engineers day is celebrated in the state with the initiative of the government. NIT Professor Shubhadeep Bhattacharjee and Chief Engineer of PWD (Roads and building) Rajib Debbarma also spoke on the occasion.

The Chief Minister also unveiled the statue of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya at the office premises of The Institute of Engineers, Tripura branch situated at Gurkhabasti on the occasion of 55th Engineers’ Day programme.
