State’s intelligentsia went for terrible shock when the news of sudden demise of eminent writer and poet of , Prabuddha Sundor Kar reached on Tuesday night. He was 50.

One of the leading poets and authors of the state Prabudhha Sundar was a patient of chronic pancreatic disease. Of late, he fell sick and went to Hyderabad for treatment. He breathed his last there at 7 pm on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife and a daughter who is a Medical student at RIMS, Imphal..

The news of his demise came as a jolt for all associated with literature, arts and culture.

Prabuddha Sundar was a known name in the literary world of not only Tripura but also West Bengal and Bangladesh. His literary acumen was appreciated by many an important authors and poets of the country.

Besides, poem he was also a renowned story teller and only recently his book ‘Neel Upatyakar Rakhal’ made headlines for authentic life sketches of the Bengalis and Manipuris in the Halhali areas of Kamalpur where he once studied. He was also awarded by the state government for his contribution to the literary world of the state.
