The festival, which follows a month of fasting, prayers, and spiritual reflection, witnessed widespread participation as people gathered at mosques to offer special Eid prayers (Namaz). The celebrations remained peaceful, with a spirit of unity and goodwill prevailing throughout the state.

In all major mosques, special congregational Namaz was led by authorized Maulvis and Muftis, who delivered sermons emphasizing the values of peace, brotherhood, and harmony. The faithful, dressed in traditional attire, embraced one another, exchanging greetings of “Eid Mubarak” and sharing festive delicacies.

In Agartala, the historic Gedu Mia Mosque in the Shibnagar area saw a large gathering of worshippers offering Eid prayers. Similarly, in Sonamura, the Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind state chief, Mufti Taibur Rahaman, led the prayers and delivered a sermon reinforcing the message of unity and compassion.

In his message, he expressed hope that Eid-ul-Fitr would further strengthen the bonds of harmony among all sections of society. He emphasized the festival’s significance in fostering peace, mutual respect, and togetherness.

The festival was also marked by acts of charity, as people distributed food and gifts to the underprivileged, upholding the essence of Zakat—a core principle of Islam that promotes helping those in need.

With a sense of joy and festivity in the air, Eid-ul-Fitr concluded peacefully, reflecting the shared spirit of celebration and communal harmony across the state.

Grand Celebrations in Sonamura and Boxanagar

In Boxanagar, the Eid festival was observed with great devotion, with prayers held at 36 different locations. The largest congregation took place at the Boxanagar Central Eidgah Maidan, where approximately 2,000 to 3,000 people gathered for the morning prayer, which commenced at 7:30 AM. The prayers were led by Maulana Shafiqul Islam, the Imam of Madhya Boxanagar Jame Masjid. The Eidgah grounds were packed with worshippers, adorned with colorful flags fluttering in the Kalbaisakhi breeze. Dressed in traditional pajamas, panjabis, skull caps, and scarves, people from all walks of life came together to offer prayers.
