Tripura Medical College stands tall among the nation’s medical institutions, thanks to the dedicated efforts of its doctors, professors, and health workers. The college is steadily advancing in both infrastructure and education. This was highlighted by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha during the 19th Foundation Day celebration of Tripura Medical College and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Teaching Hospital.
During the event, Chief Minister Dr. Saha inaugurated several new facilities on the campus, including an open gym, a children’s park, and a badminton court. In his speech, he reflected on the college’s journey, noting that while Agartala Government Medical College and Tripura Medical College were both slated to begin in 2005, Tripura Medical College commenced operations in 2006 after receiving permission from the Medical Council a year later. Since then, 13 batches of students have graduated from the institution.
Dr. Saha emphasized that the college now boasts a range of advanced medical services, reducing the need for patient referrals outside the state. Complex surgeries, including kidney transplants and plastic surgery, are now being performed locally, greatly benefiting the state’s residents. He urged the students to strive for excellence and build trust with the people they serve.
Health Department Secretary Kiran Githye commended the college for its pivotal role in the state’s healthcare sector over the past 18 years. He highlighted the significant contributions of the college’s doctors and health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and urged them to continue their efforts, especially in the current flood situation.
