West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar on Friday initiated a detailed magisterial inquiry into the unnatural death of 23-year-old Manisha Das, whose body was discovered under mysterious circumstances inside the girls hostel of Shantiniketan Medical College two days ago.
The inquiry was launched following directions from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha after family members of the deceased raised suspicions that the incident may not have been a suicide and alleged possible foul play. Responding to the concerns, the state administration ordered a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the young woman’s death.
Manisha Das had been working as an assistant in the examination cell of the medical college. According to initial reports, her body was found hanging inside a room of the girls hostel.
