A delegation of senior-level officers from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change led by Chandra Prakash Goyal, Director-General of Forests & Special Secretary (DGF&SS) reached the State on Tuesday. The officers started their visit to Tripura by paying tribute to the Forest Martyrs of Tripura at Forest Memorial located at Oxygen Park at Shalbagan, West Tripura. They have explored the various facets of Oxygen Park, including its flora and avian biodiversity, well-maintained nature trail, exotic bird cage, tribal gallery, Orchidarium, yoga corner, log hut etc.

In a significant step towards environmental conservation and preserving the green cover of Tripura, the Director-General of Forests & Special Secretary (DGF&SS) flagged off the Tree Ambulance after their visit to Oxygen Park. The ceremony was held at Hatipara in front of Prakriti Bhavan marking the official launch of this innovative initiative aimed at providing emergency life-saving services to trees and promoting their well-being.

Following the flag-off program, the Director General of Forests presided over a review meeting of the Tripura Forest Department, where the progress of ongoing initiatives, challenges, and future plans were discussed in order to ensure effective management and conservation of the state’s forest resources.

The team will be proceeding to Dharmanagar on Wednesday for attending two significant programmes of Forest Department Tripura namely, State Level Vanamahotsava and Agar Wood Growers’ Conclave.

This visit presents a unique opportunity for Tripura to showcase its rich biodiversity, and successful conservation efforts, and explore avenues for further progress with the collaboration and support of the Government of India.
