The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) celebrated its 42nd Foundation Day on Tuesday, reaffirming its dedication to fostering rural development and empowering farming communities. The commemorative event, held at Pragna Bhawan, witnessed the participation of farmers, various government line departments, and key stakeholders.

Inaugurating the ceremony, BJP MLA Jitendra Majumder hailed NABARD’s vital role in driving rural development. He praised the collaborative efforts of NABARD and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), which have resulted in a transformative impact on the agricultural sector of the state. The adoption of innovative and modern farming techniques has brought remarkable progress and prosperity to farmers and crop management.

Over its remarkable journey of 42 years, NABARD has consistently prioritized agriculture and rural development through its diverse initiatives. AGM of NABARD, Rajesh Chandekar, highlighted the organization’s achievements and emphasized that NABARD is not just a bank, but a mission to fortify the rural ecosystem. The bank has been actively involved in capacity building and supporting various organizations in skill development.

NABARD’s extensive support to NGOs, Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and individual farmers has played a pivotal role in fostering genuine rural development. Notably, NABARD is actively engaged in designing and developing the handloom sector in Tripura. Furthermore, the bank is striving to introduce Kharif onion and baby corn cultivation in the state, thereby promoting agricultural diversification.

With a commitment to empower rural communities and promote sustainable and equitable development, NABARD continues to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. The bank’s efforts have been instrumental in driving positive change in rural areas, ensuring prosperity, and uplifting the quality of life for farmers and inhabitants alike, said the bank officials.

The 42nd Foundation Day celebration was marked by enthusiasm and optimism, as NABARD reiterated its dedication to strengthening the rural landscape and contributing to the overall growth and welfare of the nation.
