Miscreants attacked two CPI-M supporters in two separate incidents in the city heart on Wednesday night. According to reports, at least two shops and two motorcycles were vandalized in the incidents including at Ujan Abhoynagar.

CPI-M leader Pabitra Kar blamed BJP for the attacks. According to him, the two injured CPI-M workers are Bijan Das, a party’s local committee secretary, and Pranaybhusan Chakraborty.

He alleged that the BJP’s bike-borne miscreants carried out similar attacks in various places so that people don’t participate in Astabal rally on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Kar, who visited one of the injured persons at hospital, said the Astabal rally would be the historic one.

Earlier, three vehicles in a convoy of Congress leaders- Sudip Roy Barman and Ashis Kumar Saha were vandalized by miscreants on their way to Navasantikunja Para in Takarjala on Wednesday.

The attack was launched when Roy Barman and Saha along with other party men were going to the residence of former MLA Ashok Debbarma to attend an organizational meeting.

The attackers were BJP-backed goons and in a pre-planned manner they targeted Roy Barman and Saha, the spokesman of Congress Media Cell Prasanta Bhattacharjee alleged on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan in Agartala, Bhattacharjee said the Party has informed Takarjala police station about the incident and demanded the arrest of the goons.

He said, Congress will hold a protest rally in Agartala on Thursday and demanded protection from the state government for the two leaders.
