The government aims economic development of the state and to public welfare and is working tirelessly for the overall development of the state. Success has been achieved in several fields recently, stated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating State of Art Building of Women Industrial Training Institute, built under Model ITI scheme of the central government at Indranagar today. He visited different sections of the new State of Art building which comes under Industry & Commerce department. The building was built spending total 8 crore rupees, out of that 7 crore 20 lakh rupees was granted by the central government and 80 lakh rupees was granted by the state government. The total area is 806.40 square meters. The building includes Cosmetology, Computer Aided Embroidery Design and Surveyor. 40 students can seek training in each of these trade sections.
The Chief Minister said, it is not possible for the government and police alone to build drug-free Tripura which is why the women have to take strict role in this regard. The present government will not make any sort of compromise with those attached with illicit drug business and none shall be spared. A grave environment of drug business was created during the period of the previous government. As a result of which the youth has slowly fallen in the hands of addiction. Tripura is now moving ahead at a new pace in the period of the present government. A new ray of hope has birthed in people of every section of the society in the state. He said, people’s income has increased in the state as well as farmers monthly income has increased to some extent. There are 26 thousand SHGs in the state at present, to which about 3.5 lakh women are attached. Its revenue has increased to about 1 thousand crore rupees. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized upon women empowerment to build a self-reliant country. The state government is also moving in the same direction. A positive environment has been created in the state presently for setting up of new industries. The demand of efficient people will be met from the students of such ITIs. The Chief Minister also said, about 400 students from ITI have been recruited in various fields in the state in the past 3 years. Others are also becoming self-dependent through different central and state government schemes.
The Chief Minister further said, earlier it was mandatory for the students to pass higher secondary level in order to graduate . The present government has taken initiative to solve this problem. At present, if a student takes a language examination and passes the exam after completing training in ITI, then it shall be considered to be equal to studying in Arts Section in a Higher Secondary School.
Industry & Commerce Minister Manoj Kanti Deb in the inaugural programme said, ITI are the most important institutes to build self-dependent Tripura. There are total 19 ITIs in the state at present. 7 new ITI were set up in 4 years of the government. Proposal has been sent to the central government recently to set up more ITI. The present government has given more priority to education which is why more finance has been allotment in the budget in education sector.
TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy said, the first and foremost necessity towards self-reliance is increasing exports and decreasing imports. In this regard, so far, the exports have crossed 200 crore rupees in the present financial year in the state. it was possible as a result of changed environment brought in industries. Just recently 250 crore rupees has been invested towards the state after signing MoU in the Investment Summit. Welcome speech was delivered by Secretary of Industry & Commerce department Dr. P. K. Goyal and Vote of Thanks was delivered by Director of the department Swapna Debnath. Saplings were handed over to the guests in the programme.
