CM Dr. Saha distributed 479 appointment letters, emphasizing transparency and merit-based recruitment. Since 2018, 16,942 jobs have been provided. Tripura’s unemployment rate dropped to 1.7%.
In a major employment drive, the Tripura government distributed 479 appointment letters for various posts during a ceremony held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala, on Sunday. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who addressed the gathering, emphasized the government’s commitment to transparent, merit-based recruitment processes.
Dr. Saha reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently advocated for transparent recruitment policies, and the Tripura government has worked diligently to uphold this principle. “Those receiving jobs today did not have to attend political rallies or wait endlessly. Instead, they earned their appointments purely on merit,” he said.
The Chief Minister informed that since the financial year 2018-19, a total of 16,942 individuals have been appointed across various state departments, reflecting the government’s commitment to employment generation. In 2025 alone, 3,296 government jobs have been provided, including 2,437 Group-D employees recruited through JRBT.

Among the 479 posts distributed on Sunday, 126 were for Child Development Project Officers (CDPO) and ICDS Supervisors in the Department of Social Welfare & Social Education, 197 posts for Junior Engineers in the Public Works Department (PWD), and 156 posts for Assistant Manager, Cash-cum-General Clerk, and Multi-Tasking Staff in the Tripura State Cooperative Bank.
Highlighting broader achievements, Dr. Saha noted that 5,771 contractual and outsourced jobs were also created since 2018. He cited official statistics to demonstrate Tripura’s dramatic decline in unemployment—from 10% in 2018-19 to just 1.7% in 2023-24, compared to the national average of 3.2%.
Despite these achievements, the Chief Minister accused opposition parties of misleading the public regarding unemployment issues. “The opposition lacks facts and tries to confuse people. We are committed to transparency and people-centric governance,” Dr. Saha asserted.

Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Minister for Cooperation Shukla Charan Noatia, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, and other senior officials were present at the event.
Dr. Saha congratulated all the appointees and urged them to serve the people sincerely, reminding them that government jobs are not just a solution to personal livelihood but a commitment to public welfare.
Earlier this year, the Tripura government made history by distributing 2,806 appointment letters at a single event, attended virtually by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. With steady progress in recruitment and administration transparency, the state government aims to continue building a corruption-free, employment-rich environment for Tripura’s youth.
