The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) all India president J P Nadda asked all the party leaders and workers to work unitedly and in a dedicated manner to ensure victory of the party in the ensuing assembly polls in nine states that include Tripura too.
He was addressing the inaugural session of the BJP National Executive Meet in New Delhi. The meet will be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
In the meeting the state unit party presidents also submitted their report.
It is expected that after the National Executive meeting the party leaders will also have a special meeting with Tripura BJP leaders including Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, former Chief Minister and MP Biplab Kumar Deb , party unit president Rajib Bhattacharjee –all of whom are now in Delhi. The meeting is expected to discuss the present political scenario , especially after the CPM -Congress declaring alliance and the situation in the ST seats in view of the TIPRA Motha emergence. The meeting will also give the final nod to poll campaign strategy and decide as to how the central leaders and leaders from states would be joining the campaign.
In his inaugural address on the first day of the party’s 2-day National Executive Meeting here, Nadda also asked them to learn from Prime Minister Narendra Modi the way he worked in the recently held Gujarat Assembly polls.
Briefing media about the meeting, senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad quoted Nadda as saying that the BJP’s victory in the Gujarat Assembly elections is historic and extraordinary.
Nadda said, 72,000 booths were identified in 100 Lok Sabha constituencies where the BJP was weak but the party has reached out to 1.30 lakh booths in the areas to strengthen the party base.
He talked about the Panch Pran given by the Prime Minister which includes freedom from traces of the colonial past, holding pride in the tradition of India, commitment to making a developed India, unity in diversity, and making citizens responsible tow
The session was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who earlier held a mega roadshow in Delhi.
Speaking to the media in the evening, senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said the BJP is “committed to winning” the coming elections.
“The focus now is on strengthening the party at the booth level,” Prasad said.
Besides the Prime Minister, 35 Union Ministers, 12 Chief Ministers, and 37 regional heads are attending the two-day national executive meeting.
Around 350 party workers also attended.
Prasad said India has pulled ahead in several areas including the manufacturing of cars and cell phones.
“India has become the fifth largest economy in the world surpassing even England. It is the second biggest mobile manufacturer. From importing cellphones in 2013-14, we are now exporting cellphones made here,” he said.
