BJP dominates Assam panchayat polls, strong lead across districts –

In Assam, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dominates in the panchayat polls with sweeping wins in several districts. The official declaration of counting results is awaited in several districts. According to the Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) report, the BJP and its allies are maintaining a strong lead in almost all districts in the ongoing Assam Panchayat election vote counting, which began at 8 am on Sunday under strict security measures.
 
The panchayat elections, which took place in two phases on the 2nd and 7th of this month across 27 districts. Vote counting began simultaneously for both phases at 8.00 AM yesterday and is expected to continue till this evening.
 
The elections encompassed 21,920 gram panchayat members’ seats, 2,192 anchalik panchayat members, and 397 zilla parishad members. The electoral process involved 1,80,36,682 eligible voters, including 90,71,264 male, 89,65,010 female, and 408 others. The voter turnout was 74.71 per cent.
