The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared that the parliamentary elections held in the East and West Tripura constituencies proceeded without any incidents of violence.
Addressing the media at a press conference held at the BJP state headquarters in Agartala, State President Rajib Bhattacharjee underscored the peaceful nature of the polls, noting a significant absence of violence throughout the electoral process.
Bhattacharjee remarked, “Echoing the exemplary conduct of the 2023 assembly elections, this year’s parliamentary elections saw no instances of violence before, during, or after the polling in the state.” He lauded Tripura for maintaining its legacy of organizing elections that are free, fair, and devoid of any disruptions.
Drawing attention to the robust voter turnout, particularly in the East Tripura Parliamentary Constituency, Bhattacharjee acknowledged the enthusiastic participation of citizens despite the scorching heat.
In response to concerns raised about the reported vote boycott by over 1050 villagers in Gandacherra, the BJP state president assured that the matter was promptly addressed with the relevant authorities. He pledged a thorough inquiry into the incident, emphasizing the overall high voter turnout of at least 80%.
