A BJP booth president was brutally attacked in Simna mandal while returning from a party programme. The injured leader was hospitalized as Minister Tinku Roy condemned the incident and demanded strict legal action against those responsible.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) booth president in Simna mandal was seriously injured after being attacked by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday evening, triggering sharp political reactions and renewed concerns over political violence in the region.

The victim, identified as Dukhiya Debbarma, president of Booth No. 25 under Simna mandal, was assaulted while returning to his residence after attending a party programme in the Hejamara area. According to party sources, the attack was sudden and severe, leaving Debbarma critically injured on the roadside.

Local residents rushed to his aid and immediately arranged for his transportation to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital authorities confirmed that Debbarma sustained multiple injuries and remains under close medical observation. His condition is reported to be stable but serious.

Upon receiving information about the incident, State Minister Tinku Roy promptly visited the hospital to enquire about the booth president’s health condition. The minister interacted with the attending doctors and assured the family of all necessary support from the government and the party.

Strongly condemning the incident, Minister Roy described the attack as a “cowardly and heinous act” aimed at intimidating grassroots-level political workers. He alleged that such violent acts are often carried out by individuals or groups who are losing their political relevance and public support.

“This kind of violence has no place in a democratic society. Attacking a booth-level worker reflects frustration and fear among those who can no longer face people politically,” Roy stated. He further asserted that the perpetrators would not be spared and would be identified, arrested, and punished strictly under the law.

The BJP leadership has demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident, urging the police administration to take swift action. Party workers staged protests in parts of Simna, calling for enhanced security for political workers and strict enforcement of law and order.

Political analysts believe that attacks on booth-level leaders are particularly alarming, as they form the backbone of democratic participation and election management. Such incidents, they argue, risk undermining public confidence in peaceful political engagement.

Reiterating the party’s commitment to democratic values, Minister Roy emphasized that the BJP would continue its political activities peacefully and fearlessly, refusing to bow down to violence or intimidation. “Truth and justice will prevail,” he said, adding that the party stands firmly with its injured worker and his family.

Police officials have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas. Further details are awaited as the probe progresses.
