Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who plunged into the election campaign with full fury on Tuesday played out popular Sashi Kapoor dialogue in Hindi blockbuster Deewar when he said : if CBI, ED visit my home, they will not find Rs.50 crore, 60 crore or 100 crore –but my 75-year-old Maa- who is more valuable than the money’. Deb was apparently referring to some reports that ‘he had got Rs 160 crore stashed in his quarters’, making a fun of the claim.
If this was not enough, Deb also took a dig at his bête noirs Sudip Roy Barman and Ashis Saha saying that he had all along been aware of their ‘connivance with the Communists’.
“I knew they were Tarmuj (watermelon) leaders and now their roles are coming out to the fore loud and clear”, Deb said in a meeting.
While addressing the Prishta Pramukh Sammelan, Deb, who launched a campaign for his party candidates in full gear, predicted that BJP would secure victory with record margin in all the four constituencies- Agartala, Bordowali, Surma and Jubarajnagar.
Every election brings a message; in 2018, the BJP fought the elections against communists and in this by-election, the real faces of those leaders (Roy Barman and Saha) have come to limelight, he said, adding that he was waiting to see this day.
Deb said, he is now on the ground and he would ensure Dr. Sinha’s victory with a record margin. Meanwhile, the party karyakartas were visibly found happy over the presence of Deb in the Prishta Pramukh Sammelan.
Dr. Ashok Sinha, who is contesting the by-polls from 6- Agartala, is an honest man and the people of this constituency are lucky to have such a candidate, Deb told the reporters.
The former Chief Minister was recently summoned by BJP chief J.P. Nadda in New Delhi and they discussed the strategies for the by-polls in length. After this important meeting, Deb now started his activities for the ensuing by-polls in a new spirit. According to party sources, Deb’s return would definitely boost the party’s campaign process.
Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury, BJP state general secretary Kishore Barman and other party leaders including Amit Rakshit were present in the meeting.
