BJP complaints use of Museum pic in TMC advt

 The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura regarding use of an image of Tripura State Museum in an advertisement of Trinamool Congress (TMC). The advertisement with the theme of AITMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee making an appeal to the voters for casting their votes in favour of Trinamool Congress was published by various local dailies on Tuesday.

“The background was based on the image of Tripura State Museum (erstwhile Tripura Legislative Assembly) building, under Govt. of Tripura,” the complaint filed by BJP state office secretary Mihir Sarkar reads.

It also stated, use of any government building of importance is prohibited for Election Campaign. The advertisement material did not indicate any pre-certification by the State Level Media Committee.

The BJP requested the CEO to take necessary action as per provision of MCC (Media Guideline) to check such misuse of government property of eminence to lure the voters in favour of a political party.

Yoga : Biplab to look after 8 states

Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb will look after Yoga Diwas observance in eight states and one Union Territory.

Deb has been given charge of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim and Andaman and Nicobar.

The eighth International Day of Yoga will be celebrated on June 21. As part of the observance of the Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform Yoga at Mysore Palace in Karnataka, while 75 ministers from his cabinet will do Yoga at 75 historical and cultural sites in the country.

Biswabandhu on campaign

Deputy Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen campaigned at Mangalkhali area under Jubarajnagar Assembly constituency on Tuesday.

Sen campaigned at Booth No 17 and 18 of Mangalkhali area in support of BJP nominated candidate Malina Debnath today. Mangalkhali is a minority-dominated area and participation of people, especially women, belonging to the minority community were noticeable, party sources claimed.

Addressing the crowd, Sen highlighted several welfare schemes of the government and inquired about the local problems that the villagers were facing. He engaged in intense discussions with the villagers to explore solutions to the problems.

Sen, during the campaign, was accompanied by Jubarajnagar Mandal vice president Sribas Pal, president of Booth 18 committee Kajal Debnath, eminent social activist and minority leader Rafikul Saheb and other minority leaders.
