Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, accused the Congress party of fostering family-centric politics, claiming it paved the way for prolonged communist dominance in Tripura’s political landscape. He contrasted this with the BJP’s approach, which, he said, focuses on empowering grassroots leadership.

Deb credited the BJP’s leadership for breaking Tripura’s decades-long communist rule and steering the state toward a new direction. Addressing newly appointed mandal presidents of the party, Deb emphasized the importance of working diligently and adhering to the party’s rules and regulations. He urged them to prioritize public service and effective governance, warning that leaders who fail to deliver on their responsibilities would be removed from their positions.

Biplab criticizes Cong, highlights BJP’s grassroots leadership effortsReferring to the central government’s proposal of ‘One Nation, One Election,’ Deb underscored that simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies were held four times in India’s history. However, he alleged that Congress’s “sinful acts” disrupted this practice, leading to separate election cycles. He explained that the bifurcation of several states further entrenched this system, which, according to him, has cost the nation thousands of crores in election expenses.

Deb expressed optimism about the proposal, noting that the Union Cabinet had approved the bill and referred it to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further deliberation. He stated that if passed, the move could save substantial public funds, enabling the government to redirect resources toward welfare initiatives.
