As many as 600 Indian travelers from Tawang region in India visited Bhutan to attend the Tshechu festival.

People of Tawang walked about four hours from the nearest road point in India to Toedtsho Gewog in Trashi Yangtse carrying all the goods on their backs, reports The Bhutan Live News.

They reached Gomphu kora by hiring taxis.

I visited the place seven times but due to covid pandemic, we could not visit in the last three years. But this year, I came here along with my friends. We are enjoying, Dorji Wangchuk from Tawang told the website.

I am so happy as it is my first time visiting the place. When I was young, my parents used to tell me to visit Gomphu Kora. And it was my dream to visit Bhutan, I am happy, Pelden Tshering who also came from Tawang told The Bhutan Live.

A tshechu is any of the annual religious Bhutanese festivals held in each district or dzongkhag of Bhutan on the tenth day of a month of the lunar Tibetan calendar.

The month depends on the place.

Tshechus are religious festivals of the Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.
