Assam Rifles celebrates International Day of Women in Science by felicitating meritorious girl students across five institutions, promoting gender equality, STEM education, scientific innovation and empowering young women to pursue careers in science and technology.

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Assam Rifles organised a special felicitation ceremony across multiple educational institutions to recognise and encourage girl students who have demonstrated excellence in science subjects. The initiative aimed to promote gender equality in scientific education while inspiring young girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The felicitation programmes were conducted at five prominent institutions: Fatikroy Government Higher Secondary School, Kumarghat Girl’s Higher Secondary School, Holy Cross School, Fatikroy Girl’s High School and Ambedkar College. During the events, meritorious girl students were honoured for their outstanding academic performance and dedication to science education.

Assam Rifles personnel actively engaged with the students during the ceremonies, highlighting the vital role of scientific education, innovation and research in nation-building. They encouraged the students to remain committed to their academic pursuits and to explore diverse career opportunities in science and technology-related fields. Emphasising the importance of equal opportunities, the officials reiterated that empowering girls through education is a crucial step toward sustainable national development.

The initiative reflects Assam Rifles’ commitment not only to national security but also to community development and youth empowerment. By recognising academic excellence among girl students, the organisation seeks to break barriers and challenge stereotypes that often limit women’s participation in scientific domains.

Educators and students welcomed the programme, noting that such recognition boosts confidence and motivation among young learners. The International Day of Women and Girls in Science serves as a global reminder of the need to bridge the gender gap in STEM sectors, and initiatives like this contribute significantly toward that goal.

Through this meaningful gesture, Assam Rifles has reinforced the message that empowering girls in science is essential for fostering innovation, equality and long-term national progress.
