MLA Ashis Das, BJP leader Srishta Mohan Das and Congress leader Ratan Das will join the TMC during Abhishek Banerjee’s rally in Agartala on October 31 next.
Ashis who shaved his head on October 5 last soon after ‘quitting BJP’, has been kept in waiting for long as the TMC was a bit uncertain as to whether to take him in its fold. Ultimately it was decided that the MLA should be handed over the TMC flag. Since he is a sitting BJP MLA, the TMC felt even if joining would not make much difference , his leaving the BJP would certainly make.
Meanwhile, around 360 families from Boxonagar constituency of Sepahijala district joined the TMC on Thursday in presence of TMC MP Sushmita Dev, party’s state steering committee convenor Subal Bhowmik and other leaders.
A new party office of TMC was also inaugurated at Boxonagar while the Ambassa unit of the party held a rally in support of Banerjee’s rally.
On the other hand, national general secretary of TMC Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday visited party worker- Mamon Khan, who recently sustained injuries during an attack at a party programme in Amtali, in SSKM hospital of Kolkata.
