In the wake of communal overtures in spome parts of the state, especially in North Tripura and Unakoti districts the state government appealed to the people not to be misled by fake news and rumours and maintain peace and harmony. The police department also made similar appeals and informed the public that that no masjid was burnt.

IGP Saurabh Tripathi police already initiated a probe into the Panisagar incident. Polic also released a photographs of the masjid as ‘safe and secure’ which had been falsely reported as burnt down.

According to the press release that came after two days of the Panisagar incident, a case has been registered in this regard and legal action will be taken against the culprits.

Citing that some people with vested interest are trying to disturb the communal peace in the state, the state government has requested the people of the state to co-operate in maintaining law and order and peaceful environment.
