Akshay Kumar sends heartfelt wishes to Ajay Devgn and Kajol ahead of their box office clash on June 27, as Kannappa and Maa release together. Akshay, who plays Lord Shiva in Kannappa, praises Vishnu Manchu’s dedication and shares a warm note highlighting Bollywood’s spirit of camaraderie.

Bollywood fans are in for a cinematic treat this Friday, June 27, as two much-anticipated films — Kannappa and Maa — gear up for a box office showdown. Akshay Kumar, who plays Lord Shiva in Kannappa, took to social media to extend heartfelt wishes to Ajay Devgn and Kajol, the power couple behind the film Maa.

In a friendly and humorous Instagram Story, Akshay dropped a teaser of Maa and penned a note to Ajay Devgn that read,

“Yaar Ajay hum dono ki picture aa rahi hain iss Friday. Tu apne fans ki good wishes #Kannappa ko bhej de aur main meri Mahadev ki blessing #Maa ko, Kya bolta hai? Goodluck to Kajol and you bhai…May the power be with you @ajaydevgn @kajol.”

(Translation: “Hey Ajay, our movies are coming out this Friday. You send your fans’ good wishes to Kannappa, and I’ll send my Mahadev’s blessings to Maa. What do you say? Good luck to Kajol and you, brother… May the power be with you.”)

The gesture not only displayed Akshay’s camaraderie with Ajay but also added a refreshing twist to the usual competitive buzz around box office clashes. Fans quickly took to social media to appreciate the warmth and positivity in Akshay’s message.

Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva in Kannappa

Kannappa, a mythological action-drama led by actor-producer Vishnu Manchu, features Akshay Kumar in the revered role of Lord Shiva. Akshay has expressed deep admiration for Vishnu’s dedication to the film. Sharing his experience from the sets, the Housefull 5 actor stated:

“I’ve seen Vishnu in action—not just as the lead, but as someone completely immersed in the soul of the film. He was acting, coordinating things on set, and even jumping in to help with the background and props when needed. At times, he felt like an art director too. He’s that hands-on.”

Akshay also highlighted Vishnu’s meticulous nature. He recalled a particular scene that lasted barely six or seven minutes on screen but took hours to discuss and perfect.

“He spent nearly two hours explaining it to me in detail. I understood it early on, but he kept going because that’s how passionate he is. You rarely see an actor put themselves into a role with this much energy and heart. He’s truly lived and breathed Kannappa.”

Box Office Buzz: Kannappa vs. Maa

Both Kannappa and Maa have generated considerable excitement among film enthusiasts. While Kannappa explores mythological themes with intense performances and elaborate sets, Maa, starring Kajol in a powerful maternal role, promises an emotionally rich cinematic journey.

The release of these two films on the same day has led to a friendly rivalry in Bollywood circles. However, Akshay’s gesture of support has set a positive tone, reinforcing the camaraderie that still exists in the industry despite competition.

With Akshay Kumar donning the avatar of Lord Shiva and Vishnu Manchu pouring his soul into Kannappa, and Kajol bringing her acting prowess to the forefront in Maa, this box office battle may just end up being a win for Indian cinema as a whole.
