In a significant development for the Tripura Congress, the party received a boost as 257 individuals from the indigenous community joined its ranks during a program held at the Pradesh Congress headquarters. This influx of new members marks a significant step towards rejuvenating the party’s presence in the state.

Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman personally welcomed the new members by presenting them with party flags. They expressed their enthusiasm for such joining programs, hinting at a continuation of these efforts in the days to come.

TPCC (Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee) President Saha shared his delight, stating, “TPCC has further strengthened with the mass joining of 257 people from 57 tribal families from different parts of the state.” This influx of new members is seen as a positive sign for the Congress in Tripura.

In a veiled critique of the ruling BJP, Saha remarked, “The BJP leaders, including the Prime Minister, often boast about development, but one can observe the real scenario when visiting the hills and suburbs of the state.” He highlighted the lack of basic facilities and the hardships faced by many, particularly the underprivileged, including youth, women, and children.

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman underscored the party’s historical commitment to indigenous communities, stating, “Whatever the people belonging to indigenous communities have received so far starting from the 6th schedule, ADC (Autonomous District Council), and others have been given by the Congress-led government at the Centre.” He emphasized the Congress’s dedication to inclusive development and respecting the sentiments of indigenous populations.

Roy Barman called on citizens, especially youth, to unite under the Congress banner, declaring it as the only alternative for genuine development. He urged people to consider their past experiences with various parties, both regional and national, and emphasized the Congress’s willingness to embrace the aspirations of the people, especially the tribal youth.

In a scathing critique of the ruling BJP, Roy Barman warned that the continued reign of the saffron party could lead to the state’s destruction.

The Congress leadership also announced plans to organize movements and protests across the state to address matters of public interest, signaling the party’s renewed commitment to advocating for the welfare of Tripura’s residents.
