The state cabinet on Tuesday approved an ambitious Information and Technology policy—titled -‘Tripura Data Centre Policy- 2021’ with several attractive facilities and subsidies in attempt to bring in reputed IT companies for investment in Tripura which in turn would lo generate employment in the state, said ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury ..
“If any IT company or agency is interest to set up Data Centre in the state, the government will provide them various facilities including subsidy in rent of infrastructure and electricity charge,” Chowdhury told the media.
The council of ministers also went pragmatic decision to hand over the unutilized educational buildings etc to interested academic institutions to set up their own facilities.
“There are many schools in the state which are lying unutilized following various reasons. The state government has now decided to invite CBSE-affiliated reputed educational institutions through Expression of Interest to start academic activities in the unused school buildings”, the ICA minister said.
“All expenditure will of the interested parties and the state government will have no share. But the government will provide the infrastructures based on Memorandum of Understanding. It will help improve the quality of Education,” Chowdhury added.
He said the state government already prepared a policy to regulate and encourage private participation in the School Education department. The participants (category wise) have to meet certain criteria to be prescribed by the School Education department.
According to Chowdhury, the number of unused schools was yet to be ascertained. It would be reviewed twice a year to identify the unutilized schools.
In another important decision, the cabinet approved the introduction of ‘Vidya Jyoti Schools’ scheme under Mission-100.
Chowdhury said, “total 100 High and Higher Secondary Schools from all eight districts will be identified as ‘Vidya Jyoti Schools’ under Mission 100. These schools will be brought under the Centre of Excellence with various facilities.”
The cabinet decisions also included extension of tenure of Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT).
Chowdhury said the tenure of JRBT would come to an end in November next. The JRBT already conducted examinations for recruitment in Group-C and D posts. The recruitment process may be disrupted following the upcoming civic body polls. So, the cabinet approved extension of JRBT’s tenure for one year, the ICA minister told the media.
The cabinet also decided to introduce a recruitment rule for recruitment of full-time Director under State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), he said, adding that the cabinet also approved creation of a post of Joint Registrar of Co-operative Society under the Cooperative department. Besides, the state cabinet approved one-year extension for Managing Director of Tripura Forest Development and Plantation Corporation- Dr. Rameswar Das and six-month extension for sub jailer Binoy Pandey under Home department.
Speaking to the media, the ICA minister said the council of ministers on Tuesday also held discussions on the latest Covid situation.
