Dr. Saha, a doctor-turned-politician, was first sworn in as the Chief Minister on May 15 last year, succeeding Biplab Kumar Deb. After leading the Bharatiya Janata Party to victory in the previous assembly polls, he began his second term as Chief Minister on March 8 this year. The oath-taking ceremony was graced by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Chief J.P. Nadda, and other prominent leaders.
Official sources claim that under Dr. Saha’s leadership, Tripura has witnessed improvements in the law and order situation, and the last assembly elections were conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner. The government has achieved several notable milestones and development initiatives during his tenure. These include an increase in social pension up to Rs. 2,000, recruitment of all Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)-qualified candidates, the release of 17 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) to government employees, the establishment of a Dental College, the launch of the ‘Amar Sarkar’ web portal, and the hosting of the first S20 event under G20. Furthermore, Tripura has witnessed significant progress in connectivity and highway infrastructure under Dr. Saha’s leadership. The Chief Minister recently instructed the Tripura Police to form a Special Task Force with jurisdiction across the state to combat organized criminal groups. He has also taken proactive measures to strengthen the fight against drugs.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Saha took to Twitter and mentioned that he would continue to work under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build an “Unnata Tripura, Shreshta Tripura” (Progressive and Exemplary Tripura).
